Ok,well my friend in my guild got banned, for accepting a duped item, that she thought was legit. Well the guy who gave it her, when he gave it to her he left straight away. We suspected he was up to something, but never duping (he was a nice guy).
This is what she left on our forums ;
Kick me from the guild...
took me a couple days to come post this because im literally tore up and cant think or concentrate, you have to kick me from guild because my game is no longer there, they have banned me permantly from GWs, my account is locked because of Chunky. Apparently (I had no idea at all) he was Duping, Yes he is the one all the forums are talking about, well he gave me a present i thought was lagitament, a shield and sword. I didnt know he Duplicated them, When Arenanet found out he was duping 1000s of ectos and 1000s of armbriants, they Banned everyone and anyone that has made a trade with him during X amount of time. well guess who, me, 2+ years down the drain, ive called them, and pleaded w/them but because i had a dupped sword and didnt give him money for it, it wasnt concidered a false sale. they said I knew about it and i was involved. its BS! but im paying now. You wont see much of me on the forums for a bit cuase im so sick over this. I Put in 6000 plus hours into the game, to have it taken away because of a greedy lil Fker i thought was a friend.
So why should she be banned unfairly? I say we petition against the banning of innocent people such as LadyGuinn!
If you would like to help, sign this petition,it wont only help save Lady, but anybody else who is innocent! /Signed knowing that I will help and support Ladyguinn and get her account back.

/signed, with a word of cation
If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. If it was a tormented shield and sword he gave you, you should have suspected something, or at the least, had some warrior pride and said, no thanks, Ill get my own if I want.
Nonetheless....signed.

Anet have every log in existence about every transaction and every convo and interaction that's been had between characters.
At this point it's her word against theirs and they have logs of everything.
If she is truly innocent then good luck with the appeal but when someone shows up with some out of this world gear for free I smell a rat.
Greed is one of the seven deadly sins for good reason.

What I don't understand is if they know the items that were duped and accepted by another, why don't they just get rid of the items instead of banning the account? I mean, ban the dupers, ban the accounts that received mass amounts of duped items, but those who accepted "duped gifts", just get rid of the items, maybe along with a warning or temp ban.

I’ve sometimes given away decent gold items to strangers so it’s not an uncommon occurrence.
This does seem rather harsh to me to ban people this far down the duping scandal line.

If this is all true i am singed.
I Myself almost got banned because i saw a man selling an Ambrace for 70k and i didnt really knew that there was such a greed in people to dupe those items. I wasn't visiting forums that much so i was out of any informations about this. But i havent bought that ambrace because i decided i don't like Torrmented Longbow enough.

Maybe that isn't in ANet's power, so they have no better action but to ban-on-sight.
Sad, too, since it's all vanity items.

Anet making very bad move or this is propaganda.
However if this all is true (no real proof in thread), then there might be many more who cancel their GW:EN pre-order, because leave GW (even when not banned) because of this or not plan support Anet further, because this banning "madness" happened.

Well, I was thinking that, too: they may not be able to delete items just like they cannot create items. However, there can be ways around it. One way I was thinking about is make it so that particular account can't trade or drop items, causing a lock down of any items currently on the account (much like 10-hour access keys - so the code is there). Then issue a warning that if she does not delete the duped items (which may be on a list in the email so she knows which ones they are), then her account will be perma-banned in a week's time.
So, it would give the option of delete said items, or get banned. I think that's fair and quite doable. Of course, the account lock and ban would be lifted if at the end of the week the items are no longer there.

Personally I think Anet should soften their stance on this somewhat. By all means clamp down hard on illegal game exploits but concentrate on the main perpetrators.
I feel sorry for those that have got caught up in this and have received bans after, many I suspect, putting so much time into the game.
Also, it’s making many others, thankfully not caught up in this, feel uneasy to say the least.

Ok, so this is another assisine thread.
We're supposed to believe someone posting anonymously on the Internet (who doesnt even know the banned person RL, just from a game) because...uh...well...we'll believe anything?
Second, even if you get this /signed 1000 times over it doesnt make any difference, this board has 0 influence on bans. Contact support and/or PM Gaile, they can resolve this.
